Midnight Shift cracks open 2016 with a slamming line-up comprising champs from here and around the region. Haan and Adam Froghyar takes first base, followed by FAL:X, Tzusing and Xhin for the homerun.

Singapore’s Xhin needs no introduction here since his international breakthrough, along with critically acclaimed 4 albums (2 which were self-released) and releases on Stroboscopic Artefacts, CLR, Token and Semantica plus mixes for Resident Advisor, Erratic and Secret Thirteen. The artist, producer, sound designer and DJ has both shocked and awed during his trajectory to the top and he is back on the Midnight Shift after several including the first party in 2009.

Shanghai-based, Malaysian Chinese Tzusing makes his Singapore performance debut, having released tracks like “4 Floors of Whores” on fabled label L.I.E.S., we figured he would be good for a visit to the actual site. Informed by industrial, EBM, post-punk and italo, Tzusing and his regular night ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ at The Shelter (Shanghai) is part of the wave bringing the underworld to the front.

FAL:X began throwing Lepalooza parties at the now defunct Home Club. His passion for techno grooves with dark textures and hypnotic rhythmic structures found its way to releases on Cobb Recordings and ItaloBusiness and a monthly podcast on Fnoob Techno Radio, while playing gigs in between Singapore and Spain. One to watch.

kyō’s own resident Haan has been holding up the scene around the island and for good reason as his ever evolving sets attest to. From the Super0 festival to Kilo and Midnight Shift parties, Haan’s versatility between the house, techno and bass worlds is creating a new scene in itself – and he is first up to bat with new blood, Adam Froghyar
